Your baby's first year is filled with firsts. The firsts of every holiday. The first smile, first rollover, first crawl, first foods, first steps. Each milestone reached fills your heart with pride, joy and a little sadness. For with every passing milestone, your baby is a little closer to growing up.

There are many kinds of love. The love between husband and wife, mother and son, father and son, brothers. The love between a family when they are together as one. Each love is beautiful and special in its own way. The different dynamics and relationships in a family are what makes it yours.

A little sister to love and protect. A little sister to teach and to encourage. A little sister to play and explore with. A little sister to cherish.

A photographer is a storyteller. Instead of words, we use images to tell our story. Wedding photographers tell the story of a grande and spectacular day, and the love story of two. Family photographers tell the continuing love story of life and family

Black and white. It is simple and timeless. Black and white allows the viewer to see every detail and feel every emotion. Newborns were made for black and white. The simply beautiful details of a newborn baby are perfect in black and white.

A fresh, brand new baby has a way of making us smile. Holding a newborn cures the blues and washes away any worry. Newborns are reminders of all that is right and innocent in this crazy world. Completely perfect and each a living miracle we can actually hold in our arms. 

Life is a series of connections. Some connections take time to build and strengthen. Others are solidified in an instant. When a new baby arrives, those instant connections are overwhelming. A fresh life has the innate ability to connect with each new person he meets. His mama and daddy, of course.

As parents, we are blessed to be able to see the world through the eyes of a child again. Every age and every stage brings a whole new way that our children look at the world around them. There is beauty and wonder all around us, and children have the wonderful ability to see it all.  

I have been lucky enough to be working with this family since big brother Kaden was a newborn. He is now 2 years old, and has a very important new role. He is the big brother to opinionated little Kaia Katarina.

Happiness. It is what this life is all about. To be happy and to make those around us happy. When we are happy, it is easy to make those around us happy.Babies are the best spreaders of happiness. It is hard not to be happy when you have a big toothy grin looking at you.

When you step into my studio, I want you to feel like you can breathe. Not one of those fast breaths, but the kind that comes from deep within and refreshes your entire body. I want you to feel full of peace and at calm, where for these next moments, it is not about the busyness or about the stress.
