There is a moment in every newborn session where the baby does something completely their own. Something you could not have planned, could not have asked for, and could not have repeated if you tried. For this little one, it happened early.

Arms thrown wide, mouth stretched into the biggest grin, eyes shut tight in the kind of full-body stretch that only a newborn can pull off. It lasted about two seconds. I kept the camera up and I got it. That image is now the one this family will look at for the rest of their lives.

Later in the session, once this baby had settled into a deep sleep, I moved in close. Cheek resting on tiny fists, lips just slightly parted, every feature soft and still. This is the close-up that parents come back to most when they see their gallery for the first time.

There is something about seeing a newborn's face this large, this detailed, that stops you completely. The specific shape of the nose. The curve of the lip. The way the eyelashes sit. These details are already changing. Getting them like this, right now, at this exact stage, is exactly why the first two weeks matter so much for a newborn session.

Settled and Still

Toward the end of the session, the baby was fully settled. Cheek resting on one hand, tucked into the white knit wrap, with the soft blur of green foliage in the background adding just enough warmth to the frame. Peaceful, unhurried, completely at ease.
