Mom Moments We Can All Relate To

My dear Mama, there are just some moments that we can all relate to in our family's journey.

Motherhood is often filled with a flash of memories and moments, and we live our lives day-to-day showing up the best we can for our kids. But in that chaos, there are some moments that stand out - moments that have us rolling our eyes, and moments that we wish we could pause forever.

1. Laundry

Whether you're a stay-at-home Mama, an entrepreneur or a 9-5 gal, a lot of the time we all end our day the same way: trying to match the missing socks in the laundry. It may look like I've got everything together on the outside, but trust me, I can't find those socks either!

2. Familiar faces

When your 12-year-old makes a face or does a quirky mannerism that reminds you of when they were a baby. And you have the pictures to prove it! Oh, those little moments.

3. The little things

We all guiltily hope that our kids will never stop doing the things that we know they are going to grow out of. The hand-holding, sitting in your lap, goodbye-kisses and tickling sort of little things. Why can't those last forever?

4. Did everyone go to the bathroom?

How often do you get ready to leave the house, and ask everyone if they've gone to the bathroom? About 99% of the time, I'm sure. But then once you're on the road, how often do you have to stop 5 minutes into the drive because someone didn't go to the bathroom like they said they did? Also 99% of the time!

5. Dress up

It can be so fun getting to choose clothes for your little ones! And when they start to find their own style, it's fascinating to watch them pick out their own clothes! When they bring home their new shirt and they just can't wait to wear it, the smile on their face is so rewarding.

6. Trying new foods

If you've got picky eaters, it can be hard to get your kids to try new foods. But when they do, their reactions can be priceless. Trying yummy foods like ice cream for the first time makes them so happy, but when they try something new that they don't like, it can result in some very unique expressions!

7. Words of wisdom

Sometimes in the tough moments, when everything feels overwhelming and there's too many messes to clean up, your little one keeps you grounded with little tidbits of wisdom. They remind you it's okay to make mistakes, that you aren't alone, that you're doing your best and that your best is enough for them. In those moments, it's like having the best teammate in the world.

8. Earning those baby laughs

Remember when your little one first started to laugh as a baby? All of a sudden, you were doing everything you could to earn those little giggles! From making dumb and silly faces, to sneezing over and over again because they find it funny, we shamelessly work for those laughs.

9. Are they copying me?

When you're going through your day as usual, it can catch you by surprise when you see your children start to do or say something that they learned from watching you! Better yet, you never expect them to start teasing you, but when they do, their impressions of you can be spot on.

10. Sleepy car rides

Whether it's a short car ride home from the store or the end of a road trip, children seem to be blessed with the ability to magically fall asleep in the car. You look back in the rear view mirror and see your little ones fast asleep, looking so peaceful and precious in that moment. Maybe you even pull over to try and sneak a picture!

Capturing The Moments That Matter

Before we know it, our kiddos will be all grown up, and these mom moments will be fewer and fewer as our babies move out, start their careers or schooling, and maybe grow their own families. It's so important to capture moments with our families now, so that we can preserve them for the future.

I remember what it's like to be a busy mom - with four kids of my own, I wish there had been someone to help me remember the little, imperfect moments before they passed by. That's why my services are centred around providing busy Mamas with the opportunity to slow down and enjoy those little moments with their children while I take care of all the details.

When you book a session at Reflections, you're not only getting professional photography done. You're getting:
