You and I were designed by the hands of the creator of heaven and earth. And He took the time to craft every single detail of our lives and breathe the most holy of breaths into our lungs. He is the One who paints the skies and can be found even in the syllables of the wind and the rain. In every moment, He is creating something. Even beyond what we can see, taking ashes and turning it all around to make something beautiful.

And God is so good at creating, He is perfect at it. It is almost as if it just bleeds from every single word He says and every step that He takes. He can’t help but create. It is who He is.

And God is so good at creating, He is perfect at it. It is almost as if it just bleeds from every single word He says and every step that He takes. He can’t help but create. It is who He is.

And I think He calls us to the same. Ever since He invited Adam into the process of creation in Genesis, God has been calling us to create with Him.

It is just about us saying yes and making space for it. That it's even about knowing your own heart. Knowing how to ask yourself questions and giving yourself permission to get messy. Being out of the box, even if it is just for a little bit.

We can keep creativity alive in our lives in all the responsibilities and routines. And I’ve thought up five ways to do exactly that.

1. Write down your ideas. Every single one. Even the ones that seem wild or silly.

2. Surround yourself with creative people. The kind of the people that get you dreaming again.

3. Don’t strive for perfection. Because you being you is more beautiful than perfect.

4. Try something new. Maybe by jumping into a new book or music. Or maybe by picking up something you’ve never tried like painting or rollerblading.

5. Unplug. Get away from your computer, television, cell phone. And breathe a little bit.

Creativity has this unique ability to make life so entirely rich. It changes the way we see things; the way we see our own lives and the way we see the world. It is as if it helps us to not see life as a series of hurdles, but a series of possibilities. And reminds us that there is beauty in every single day.

So crack open those creative juices again, and get a little messy with it. And in the process, the same one who created you, longs to create with you, and there is no one better at it than Him.

What do you do to stay creative?

Hey mama, I'm Karen Byker. I grew up in Ontario, Canada. I live in my hometown of Grimsby and I am obsessed with everything to do with kids and fancy flavoured tea. Which I usually end up drinking cold because, hey, I’m a busy mama too.

I am a mother of four that understands the overwhelm of every day. I've learned through the years how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it. I believe it’s possible to enjoy this busy life we chose.

I have helped hundreds of mamas to slow down, pause and use photography as a way to capture those special moments. Let's chat about documenting the beauty through your chaos.
